Flamsteed Astronomy Society

Flamsteed reception and visit to the Peter Harrison Planetarium

and Weller Astronomy Galleries, ROG — July 12, 2007

Over 120 Flamsteed members and their guests came along to the new ROG to ‘wet the baby’s head’ on July 12, 2007.

We split into two groups to see in turn a new show built and delivered by ROG astronomer, Dr Claire Thomas, in the Peter Harrison Planetarium.   It was great to see Claire put the new equipment through its paces.

There was then time to browse the new Weller Astronomy Galleries and take a look at the Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust Learning Centre.   The Endeavour Room was a firm favourite and everyone was impressed with the new facilities and galleries.

After browsing the galleries and facilities the group gathered in the PHP Lobby and outside on the terrace to chat and drink a toast to the success of the excellent new ROG.

God bless this Planetarium and all who sail in her!

Too much Dec. and R.A. can make your brain hurt

Astronomia by W J Neatby now graces the courtyard outside the PHP lobby

More interactives than you can shake a stick at!

The Endeavour Room was a great favourite.

J-A and Gilbert review the displays.

Julia and Mike study one of the excellent displays of historical items.  Herschel pieces are much in evidence.
